With August winding down, Fall is just around the corner! The fishing in the Brainerd Lakes Area remains solid, with “Summer” like weather and conditions persisting, it sure doesn’t seem like Fall is coming. With water temps still in the mid 70s the fish are hanging in the same general areas that they have been for the last month. WALLEYES can be found, but can be finicky biters. You can still catch some on  Red-tails , and Night Crawlers on Pelican – Edward’s – and Gull in 20-26 feet of water – Windy days have been better. PIKE action is good on Whitefish – Upper Gull – and North Long in 18-30 feet on Bigger creek chubs and spinner baits have been good. BASS action remains excellent on most lakes with deeper weed lines – Plastics, Crank Baits, and jig/ minnow combinations are all producing, Hubert – Middle Cullen – and Gull are all doing well. PANFISH have dropped in to the deeper cabbage in 12-18 feet – waxis or crappie minnows on small jigs have been working on North Long – Pelican – and Gull.

August is here! With cooler nights coming the fish are definitely in there late summer haunts. WALLEYES are being caught on leeches and night crawlers in 16-24 feet, especially when the wind is blowing – Whitefish – Gull – and North Long are your best options now. PIKE have moved deeper on Upper Gull – Pelican – and Whitefish on a bigger creek chub or Sucker Minnow in 26-32 feet. BASS continue to provide lots of action along the deeper cabbage weeds on plastics, crank baits, and jig/ minnow combinations in 10-18 feet of water on Hubert- Gull – and North long. PANFISH are more scattered now along the deeper weeds in 10-14 feet, but can be caught on smaller jigs with crappie minnows and leeches on Sylvan – Hubert – and the South end of Gull.

Numerous water fronts have been moving through lately in the B.L.A, when the weather stays some what consistent the bite is good!
WALLEYES  can be caught on leeches and crawlers on Lindy rigs in 16-24 ft  during low light conditions on Whitefish – Gull – and Lake Edward .
BASS are active on North Long – Gull – and the Cullen Chain of Lakes using plastics and jig/minnow combinations – the deeper cabbage weeds are holding the most fish now in 12-18 feet. PIKE are starting to drop deeper – 20-30 feet with heavy jigs and sucker minnows on – Whitefish and Gull.
PANFISH remain a solid bet, using wax worms and small leeches and crappie minnows – Hubert – Upper Gull – and Nisswa lakes are best in 8-14 feet. Book a guided fishing trip now before summer fades, give us a call today at 218-829-7010!

HOT! That is what describes fishing in the Brainerd Lakes Area right now. With water temperatures peaking towards our highest of the season, the fishing is following with them, 78* F is common now on our lakes, meaning BASS are very active in plastics, ned rigs, spinner baits, jig/minnow, however you would like to fish you should find some bass – get on the weed edge in 10-16 feet and you’ll find fish – Gull – North Long – Pelican are producing very well. WALLEYES are more sporadic now, under the right conditions you can still catch them on a Lindy rigs with leeches or night crawlers in 14-24 feet on WhiteFish – Gull – Round lake. The bigger PIKE are dropping deeper, 22-23 feet and can be had with Big sucker minnows or Chubs on Gull- Edward- Whitefish. SUNFISH are good in 8-14 feet on panfish leeches or wax worms – try the South End of Gull – Round – and the Cullen Chains and you should be good.
