The Whitefish chain of lakes is located near Pine River on the west and Cross Lake on the east. It is approximately 8,000 acres for Whitefish proper and consists of approximately 10 smaller lakes that can be accessed via smaller channels.
Anglers regularly chase walleye, northern, bass, and panfish on the chain. Many of the smaller lakes have very good populations of northern, bass, and panfish. Walleye anglers tend to concentrate on Upper and middle whitefish. The chain has a lot of very steep structure. One of the smaller attached lakes also has a lake trout population that anglers utilize.
The Whitefish Chain is surrounded by large pine trees and beautiful scenery. Whitefish is one of the best destinations for anglers to have a chance at catching a 10-pound walleye.
