Already , it’s July in the Brainerd Lakes Area! The mid-summer fishing has been good! Walleyes can still be caught, especially in the mornings, and the bass(largemouth and smallmouth) and pike activity has been very good. Leeches and Redtails continue to be the most productive bait for walleyes 12-24 feet of water. Plastics and jig and minnow are works for bass along the weed line. The Fishing continues to be pretty darn good throughout the Brainerd Lakes Area. With the exception of the extremely HOT days ( record high temps. 98 degrees) earlier this week, it has been good. Walleyes and Bass have been targeted and are biting. Most of the bite has been on leeches or red tails. Karen gets the lunker award, she not only won First Place in the 39th annual Confidence Learning Center Fishing Classic, but has the biggest walleye to date with this big hog, just a shy under 30”. It was quite a battle, but she did great, and this big fish was released to fight another day!

Summer has defined arrived in the Brainerd Lakes Area, and the walleye bite continues to be good. Most fish are coming on leeches or red tail chubs. Lee , Evan and Peyton with some that have come to the net this last week. Some days produce more keepers than others, with many bigger C/R fish as well.
