The walleye bite continues to improve, lots of keepers today and some big ones that went back to fight another day. Kyle, from Iowa had the biggest with this nice 26.5”.

Fishing is improving as the weather stabilizes in the Brainerd Lakes Area. Walleyes and Crappies continue to be the main target, but the bass and pike action is good as well. As June progresses fishing will continue to get better.

Opening weekend is now behind us and it was a windy one! Fishing was good at times and really tough as well. The crappies were active in the shallows, especially during the mid day hours, while the walleyes were mostly caught in the mornings and evenings. A jig and a shiner minnow or leech was the best way to put a few in the boat. The next few weeks things should get better as the water warms.
