Happy 4th of July! The fishing in the brainerd lakes area remains excellent! With summer temps in the 80s consistently now, the water is warming and the fish are in a definite summer pattern. WALLEYES can be caught, but are a little finicky now, leeches, crawlers, and chubs are all working at times – Lindy rigs or jigs in 12-22 feet on Whitefish – Gull – and Pelican are turning fish. The BASS are hitting plastics and jig/ minnow combinations on Gull, North long, and Edwards – the deeper cabbage weeds are where they are hanging. PIKE action is solid on Upper Gull – Hubert – and Edwards, Pike suckers on a jig in 10-20 feet. PANFISH are a little more scattered but can be found on the Cullen Chain, Round, and Pelican lakes in 8-14 feet, Crappie Minnows and Panfish leeches are working best. The lakes are very busy with boat traffic, be safe and have fun! Book a Guide Trip with the Nisswa Guides League now – Call 218-829-7010!
