HOT! That is what describes fishing in the Brainerd Lakes Area right now. With water temperatures peaking towards our highest of the season, the fishing is following with them, 78* F is common now on our lakes, meaning BASS are very active in plastics, ned rigs, spinner baits, jig/minnow, however you would like to fish you should find some bass – get on the weed edge in 10-16 feet and you’ll find fish – Gull – North Long – Pelican are producing very well. WALLEYES are more sporadic now, under the right conditions you can still catch them on a Lindy rigs with leeches or night crawlers in 14-24 feet on WhiteFish – Gull – Round lake. The bigger PIKE are dropping deeper, 22-23 feet and can be had with Big sucker minnows or Chubs on Gull- Edward- Whitefish. SUNFISH are good in 8-14 feet on panfish leeches or wax worms – try the South End of Gull – Round – and the Cullen Chains and you should be good.
